Perth Royal Show, District Display, continued.......

The state is divided into two halves, Northern and Southern. The Goldfields was placed in the Northern Region, along with the Gascoyne, Pilbara, and the Kimberley. Each were judged on 5 pillars of the display - Overall Visual Display, Educational Value of the Entire Display, Public Appeal, Development of the Chosen Theme, and Representation of the District. In addressing all of the above, we were asked to create a stand that took in the following facets of the Goldfields Region – Home Crafts, Minerals, Pastoral, Tourism, and Wood Products/Timber.

We had a fantastic week displaying the rich treasures of the Goldfields, together with volunteers from Menzies Shire, Mining Hall of Fame, Golden Quest Trails, Australia’s Golden Outback, Shire of Leonora, and the Boulder Development and Promotion Association. Our stand theme was “Expect the Unexpected”, and we tried to demonstrate that there is more to the Goldfields region than meets the eye.

For our efforts we were awarded Best Overall Visual Display, as well as Best Arrangement and Best Display of Minerals for the Northern Region. The Goldfields have never won a trophy before, so this is a great achievement.
