Meet the friendly team at the Visitor Centre
Welcome to our website! Come in and see the knowledgeable team at the Visitor Centre to find out what’s happening around Kalgoorlie.
Danielle Robertson - Visitor Centre General Manager
Kerry Proud - Supervisor
Born in Collie and moving to Kalgoorlie when I was eight, attending Boulder Primary and (then named) Eastern Goldfields High School, I am a West Australian country girl through and through. My junior work years were spent working for Brennan’s Drapery until I had the first of my two boys. When the youngest started schooling I went back into the workforce as a Family Resource Worker, and later as a Court Officer, between 1980 and 1996. Here I assisted families with life skills and it is actually where I met Annette Butler, one of our dedicated team members.
I have worked at the Visitor Centre since August 1996, leaving only for one year when I worked for Westrail, now called TransWA, and have been the supervisor here since November 2003. When I went for the interview for my original position I was asked, “Why do you want to work in the tourism industry?” To which I answered – “This is my home and I feel privileged to be able to promote Kalgoorlie! I don’t find it a job; this is something that I love to do everyday.”
The experience that Kalgoorlie has to offer is so unique and different to anywhere else. There is so much history here so come in and see me, and I will help you share the memories or a day gone by.
Annette Butler - Full Time Travel Tourism Consultant
I’m a born and bred Kalgoorlie girl, so I have extensive local knowledge and experience to answer your questions and if I don’t know, I will surely know someone who does!
I’m a jack of all trades with experience in the mining industry and various roles at the Visitor Centre since commencing here more than 3 years ago. In the last twelve months I have worked as the retail coordinator, so for all your souvenirs, travel and history books, maps and much more I’m sure to be able to find something that will suit your needs.
I have raised three boys in Kalgoorlie and now have eight grandchildren that make my heart melt when they call on their “nannie”. Having lived in Kalgoorlie all my life I have no problem in telling you, Kalgoorlie is a great place to live. For me there is a lot of history in Kalgoorlie and this is true for the visitor as well – take a trip back in time at the Museum, Miners Hall of Fame and much more.
Sarah Mazza - Full Time Membership and Public Relations Coordinator
My family have lived in the West Australian Goldfields since my grandparents moved to Gwalia from Italy. There they established and ran the ‘Mazza Store’, so the Goldfields mean a lot to my family and I. The Northern Goldfields has a lot to offer visitors with diverse attractions including the ghost town that is Gwalia, Lake Ballard and distinct Goldfields scenery.
I have just completed my Public Relations and Tourism Marketing Degree at Curtin University and am excited to be at the helm of Goldfields tourism. Living in the Goldfields for most of my life, and with work experience with the Golden Quest Discovery Trail, I am happy to share my extensive knowledge of the region. Let me help you plan a stay, and I will be sure to give you plenty to fill a day or four, in what I call my backyard.
Ruba Jebara - Casual Travel Tourism Consultant
My family and I love to travel, and it was this passion that bought us to Kalgoorlie. Since our arrival at the beginning of the year I have met lots of friendly people from all around the world. I was born in Sydney, where after completing high school I started an apprenticeship at a local Travel agent. During my apprenticeship I starting a tourism course at TAFE, unfortunately i was unable to finish it, but I'm hoping to continue with it here in Kalgoorlie.
I enjoy working at the Visitors Centre and helping visitors with their travel plans, as well as being able to direct them to the 'must see' attractions in and around Kalgoorlie-Boudler.
