Kalgoorlie Town Hall
The Kalgoorlie Town Hall, located on the corner of Hannan and Wilson Streets, is one of the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder’s major landmarks. Built as a state-of-the-art theatre in 1908, this impressive Edwardian-styled building has many beautiful architectural features such as ornate pressed metal ceilings, chandeliers, sweeping staircase, fly tower with original theatre rigging, backstage area with 11 dressing rooms and extensive collection of art and memorabilia.
As a town hall, it still hosts the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder Council meetings 100 years later. The Council Chambers and Mayor’s Parlour on the first floor, contain many objects, photographs and paintings of historic value.
Free guided tours are held every Monday and Wednesday at 10:30am. Bookings are not essential. For more information, contact (08) 9021 9600.
The Town Hall is open to public Monday to Friday and run tours allowing the public to experience the magnificent hall for themselves. These tours take people through different parts of the hall, including many nooks and crannies that are usually closed to the public. Tour guides inform visitors on the history of the hall, and the fascinating people who lived and breathed in its many rooms. Join Tim the Historian and take a step back in time!
