The Miners Memorial Service is a time to honour and remember the men and women who have given their lives in service of the mining industry over the past century.

Family members, mine management, and mines rescue personnel attend to pay their respects, and members of the public are warmly invited to join the service and lay floral tributes if they wish.

A symbolic miner’s lamp will be lit, marking the start of the Festival and shining as a tribute to the courage, dedication, and legacy of those we remember.
