The aim of these intensive sessions is to provide each participant with the skills and understandings to continue painting with oils.
Mel is an experienced teacher, having taught both children and adults whilst employed with the Department of Education for almost 30 years. She continues this teaching expertise through her drawing and painting classes.Mel's painting follow processes and techniques of the 'old masters'. Mel passes on many of these time honoured techniques through her master classes, ensuring the work participants produce lasts for generations.Oil painting can seem daunting for beginners or those who haven't used oil paints before. Mel teaches how to use oil paints to get the best out of them, including the correct use of mediums and brushes.Mel steps each participant through the painting of their own portrait, from the drawing stage to detail stage.
All materials and light refreshments is included. You are welcome to bring your dinner along.

Cost - $330 for members or $380 for non members (cost for non-members includes New Adult membership).
Workshops run 6pm - 9pm over 4 weeks - Tuesday 2, 9, 16 & 23 May 2023. You must commit to all four sessions - there are no make up sessions.
Mel is a portrait and landscape artist from Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Western Australia. Mel's original contemporary oil paintings are painted using traditional painting methods capturing modern portrait subjects and Australian landscape.
Her artworks have been exhibited across Western Australia and her award winning realistic paintings have been popular across the Western Australian Goldfields.
Mel is the recipient of a number of awards including Winner, Inland Art Prize 2021; Best painting by a Goldfields Artist, CKB Art Prize, 2021; and Finalist, Shirley Hannan National Portrait Prize, 2020.
