SEE A SUPER BLAST – Tomorrow, Thursday 19 June at 4pm!
Join us at the Super Pit Lookout as we move 500,000 tonnes of dirt in a single blast at the Great Boulder 2 area of the Super Pit!
- Blast scheduled for 4pm sharp – timed especially by our team so the whole community can attend.
- Even better – the blast will be detonated by students from Boulder Primary School!
- Super Pit Lookout, Outram Street
- Free ice cream for the kids
- Chat with our team, who will be on hand to answer all your questions
- What’s involved in a blast of this scale?
- 756 drill holes, 11 metres deep
- 130 tonnes of explosives
- A 450m long blast area
- Ongoing wind and safety monitoring
This major blast will assist in de-stacking the Great Boulder Cutback, unlocking further mining opportunities into 2026 and supporting the long-term future of the Super Pit.
- Please note: Weather or safety conditions may cause delays – we’ll keep everyone at the lookout informed throughout the afternoon.
