ART ON THE MOVE are back and ready for 2023!
'The Alternative Archive' will be the first exhibition out of the workshop, heading to Goldfields Arts Centre from 27 January, continuing until 12 March, 2023.
In 2019, 13 individual 'The Alternative Archive' exhibitions were presented across Regional WA. Artists and curators throughout the State were asked to create a visual archive, each presenting a localised iteration through a range of media including painting, drawing, textiles, video and sculpture.
From these exhibitions 28 artists were selected from over 200, to form the first major survey of regional art in 20 years presented at John Curtin Gallery in 2021.
Now this survey returns to the regions - and returns to Kalgoorlie-Boulder whose original exhibition was curated by Tina Carmody and presented by Artgold and First Nations Media: Tjuma Pulka Network, titled 'Nganana' meaning 'All of Us Together'.
'Nganana' focussed on bringing together a diverse range of artistic voices drawing from personal relationships with people, places and stories that they felt should be highlighted.
'The Alternative Archive' exhibition features works from artists Tina Carmody, Debbie Carmody and Kgukgi Catherine Howard Noble, selected from 'Nganana'.
