The Red Shoes Project will be hosting the first of a series of shoe-painting workshops! ?
The workshop will be a safe space with experienced support available for participants, where they can share stories, experiences and feelings around the issue of violence against women.
Bring a pair of shoes to be painted or help us paint some of the donations already collected.
All materials supplied, please wear clothes suitable for working with paint.
About Red Shoes:
The Red Shoes project was started by architect and visual artist Elina Chauvet, born in Casas Grandes Chihuahua – one of the most dangerous cities in Mexico.
She first put together Los Zaptos Rojos in Ciudad Juárez in 2009 with 33 pairs of shoes donated by the community when her 32-year-old sister was murdered by her husband.
Museum of the Goldfields & Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre are hosting Red Shoes Australia’s first ever regional installation as part of WA’s Annual 16 days in WA: Stop Violence Against Women Campaign.
Each pair of shoes displayed will represent the physical absence of a woman lost due to domestic violence.
